Vets Fit — Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 19, 2026

Vets Fit ("the app," "we," "us") is a free weight-loss companion built for veterans. We designed it to keep your personal health information private. This policy explains what the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Vets Fit you agree to this policy.

The short version

Information the app accesses

Health data (Apple Health / HealthKit). With your permission, Vets Fit reads your body weight, workouts, and active energy from Apple Health to show your progress, and writes the meals, exercise, and weigh-ins you log back into Apple Health so everything stays in one place. This data is managed by Apple Health on your device. We do not transmit your HealthKit data to us or to any third party. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Vets Fit.

Camera. The camera is used only when you tap "Scan Barcode" to read a product barcode so the app can look up nutrition information. Vets Fit does not take photos, record video, or store any images. You can manage camera access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Logs you create. Food entries, exercise entries, and weight entries you add are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. If you are signed in to iCloud, these entries sync across your own Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) into your private iCloud database. We cannot see this data; it is tied to your Apple ID, not to us.

Information sent over the network

To look up nutrition information, the app sends the food name or barcode you enter to third-party food databases:

These requests contain only the search term or barcode needed to return nutrition facts. They do not include your identity, your Apple Health data, or your logs. Your use of those services is also subject to their own privacy practices. The app makes no other network connections and includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

How we use information

We use the data described above solely to provide the app's features: logging food and exercise, tracking weight, calculating estimated calories, and displaying your progress. We do not use it for any other purpose.

Data sharing

We do not share your information with anyone. Because we operate no servers and have no account system, there is no data on our side to disclose, sell, or transfer. Health and fitness data is never used for advertising or sold under any circumstances.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device (and in your iCloud) until you delete it. You can delete individual entries inside the app, delete all app data by removing the app, and manage or delete iCloud copies in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Health data written to Apple Health can be removed in the Apple Health app.

Children

Vets Fit is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post the revised version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected in an app update.
